As you age, it’s important to continue to eat a range of foods from the five food groups. Focusing on variety, nutrient dense foods can ensure you are getting all that you need to stay healthy and well.

Good nutrition is important no matter your age. Eating a well-balanced diet can help to:

  • maintain a healthy weight
  • stay energised
  • lowers your risk of chronic health conditions including heart disease and diabetes
  • stay independent for longer
  • reduces your need for health care or hospitalisations.

It is never too late to get started on some healthier habits. The Get Healthy Information and Coaching service is a free and confidential phone-based service supporting you to make healthy lifestyle changes.

Active & Healthy also provides some information on what to eat each day.
