Youth Health
The Youth Health Coordinator has responsibility for the implementation of the NSW Youth Health Framework 2017-24. The Framework supports NSW Health staff to consider the health and wellbeing of young people when planning and delivering services and Programs.
To respond to the needs of young people, including targeted responses for vulnerable young people. We work to ensure health services are accessible and young people are engaged and respected.
Young people are supported to optimise their health and wellbeing by:
- supporting healthcare that is responsive to the needs of young people, including targeted approaches for young people at higher risk of poor health with a focus on building workforce capacity to engage with and provide care to young people 12-24
- facilitation of Essential Youth Health Skills Training (EYHS) workshops which aim to develop the skills of health professionals to engage, assess and respond to the health needs and risks of young people and to reduce barriers to young people accessing health services.
Our youth service directories include contact details for local community and mental health services, alcohol and other drugs services, sexual health clinics and women’s health clinics.
