Lactation and Breastfeeding Support

Your Child and Family Health Nurse may recommend you see a lactation consultant to support you on your breastfeeding journey.

Lactation consultants can:

• give you specialist advice on positioning and attaching your baby for comfort at any stage of your breastfeeding journey
• work with you and your baby to prevent most breastfeeding concerns
• support you with breastfeeding a premature baby, or a baby with special needs
• help you feel confident that you can breastfeed for as long as you and your baby want
• talk to you about previous breastfeeding experiences and plan for a different path this time
• offer breast pump hire and advice on other devices that may assist with breastfeeding.
