Concerns in early pregnancy

If you have any concerns in early pregnancy, contact you GP or pregnancy care service.

All MNCLHD Emergency Departments (ED) provide support to women less than 20 weeks pregnant with threatened or actual early pregnancy loss or a pregnancy of unknown location. ED may also refer you to EPAS for follow up care.

MNCLHD Early Pregnancy Assessment Service (EPAS)

MNCLHD EPAS is a free service which you can contact direct, be referred by GP or Emergency Departments (ED). EPAS is open Monday to Friday (contact your local EPAS for times) and coordinated though through the Maternity Services at:

Early Pregnancy Assessment Service (EPAS) is for women less than 20 weeks pregnant with women:

  • who have bleeding and/or discomfort under 20 weeks pregnant
  • with a non-viable or ectopic pregnancy confirmed on ultrasound scan
  • with pregnancy of unknown location or uncertain viability
  • with gestational trophoblastic disease (molar pregnancy)
  • who require methotrexate treatment
  • who requires RhD immunoglobulin (Anti D) due to early pregnancy loss or threat of miscarriage.

EPAS provides assessment, investigation, diagnosis, management, and counselling. EPAS makes a care plan with each woman, including referral, follow up care and community support information.
