Coffs Harbour Health Campus

Coffs Maternity Unit provides care for pregnancy, labour, and birth, inpatient and community postnatal care. Coffs Maternity Unit also has a special care nursery if your baby requires additional support after birth.

For hospital booking appointment and antenatal care: Contact the Pregnancy Care Service on 02 6656 5300 during business hours for appointments and bookings. The service is open Monday to Saturday with evening clinics till 7.00pm on Monday and Thursday.

Midwifery Group Practice (MGP)

MGP includes Antenatal, Labour, Birth, and Postnatal Care provided by a known primary midwife within a small team of midwives available 24hours a day, 7 days a week. To find out if your eligible for MGP contact the CHHC Pregnancy Care Service

Special Care Nursery

CHHC Maternity Services includes a Special Care Nursery for babies who may require additional support. 

 Midwifery in the Home Service

If you want to go home early or need addition support the hospital will discuss the option of having a midwife visit you and your family in your home in the first few weeks after your baby is born.

Kempsey District Hospital

Antenatal Care

Kempsey District Hospital (KDH) Maternity Services provides a continuity of care Maternity Antenatal and Postnatal Service (MAPS) service where all women have access to a known midwife for their antenatal and postnatal care.  Postnatal care will be provided in the home for up to 6 weeks postpartum.

Intrapartum Care

KDH provide inpatient maternity services for labour and birth care from 37 weeks including waterbirth, induction of labour, caesarean section and epidural analgesia. 

Medium- High Risk Antenatal Care

Some women require Obstetric lead care, this will be provided via the KDH Obstetric Specialist Outreach clinic as per the woman’s individual needs and place of residence.  These women will also receive the benefits of midwifery continuity of care throughout their pregnancy as they will be allocated a MAPS midwife who will work alongside the obstetric team for the duration of their antenatal and postnatal care.

Women, for whom, based on their pregnancy risk factors need to birth at Port Macquarie or a tertiary referral hospital, will receive their antenatal and post-natal care provided by their known midwife in collaboration with the Kempsey and Port Macquarie obstetric teams.

Macksville District Hospital

Macksville District Hospital (MDH) Maternity Services provides all women who live in the Macksville area with antenatal, birth and postnatal care through the Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) with a nominated midwife. 

MDH only has the service capability to provide birthing services for women without pregnancy or labour complications. Women who need a bit more medical support such as epidurals, induction of labour, increased monitoring of their baby or caesarean section will still have their MGP midwife but will need to birth at CHHC.

Port Macquarie Base Hospital

Port Macquarie Base Hospital (PMBH) Maternity Service offers two Midwifery Continuity of Care models for woman accessing services, Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) and Maternity Antenatal and Postnatal service (MAPS).  Offering both MAPS and MGP models of care at PMBH provides all women access to a known midwife and continuity of care throughout their pregnancy into the postnatal period.

MGP

Antenatal, Labour, Birth, and Postnatal Care is provided by a known primary midwife within a small team of midwives available 24hours a day, 7 days a week.

MAPS

Antenatal and Postnatal Care is provided by a known primary midwife within a small team of midwives in the outpatient hospital setting and at home.  Labour, birth, and postnatal inpatient care is provided by the PMBH Maternity Core Team.

MGP, MAPS and the Maternity Core Team function in collaboration with the obstetric medical team.  Women cared for in PMBH Maternity models of care will have access to the following specialties if required: Obstetric, Endocrine, Anaesthetist, Diabetic Educator, Dietitian and Women’s Physiotherapist.  

Special Care Nursery

PMBH Maternity Services includes a Special Care Nursery for babies who may require additional support.
