Psychogeriatric Service

The Psychogeriatric service is a specialist community based  service which provides comprehensive assessment, specialist advice, interim care coordination, education and support for eligible clients and carers.

To be considered by the free Medicare service, the person must be:

  • 65 years and over, or 50 years and over for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people
    NB: People with younger onset cognitive impairment may be seen
  • experiencing complex issues related to frailty and the ageing process leading to significant functional disability that also can impact on mental well-being and
  • may present with moderate to severe psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD).
