Volunteers bring community together for hospital

The Wauchope Hospital Volunteers have held their annual luncheon, celebrating the value of volunteering with about 70 guests representing business, community and service groups.

The charity luncheon, hosted by Wauchope RSL Club, was emceed by the Hospital Volunteers Secretary Carole Peters, who also delivered a rundown on the United Hospital Auxiliary’s busy year in support of Wauchope District Memorial Hospital.

Mrs Peters also extended the branch’s appreciation to the community for supporting its fundraising efforts, particularly through the monthly stalls at the IGA in Wauchope and through the volunteers’ raffle.

Branch Treasurer Margaret Mostyn said the luncheon featured guest speaker David Reneke, an astronomer who explained the workings of the universe and its fascinating features.

Also present with the North Eastern Regional Representative for the United Hospital Auxiliaries of NSW, Dee Hunter.

“As always, we felt privileged to have Dee attend our annual charity luncheon fundraiser. She is a wonderful support to all of the UHA branches on the Mid North Coast.”
