Nine infusion pumps donated to enhance patient care
Dec 19, 2024Coffs Harbour Health Campus (CHHC) Emergency Department has received a vital boost with the donation of nine infusion pumps, costing almost $15,000, thanks to the generosity of Coffs Harbour couple Rob and Margaret Chapman.
Infusion pumps are essential medical devices capable of delivering fluids in precise amounts, ranging from nutrients and medications like insulin, antibiotics, and pain relievers, to chemotherapy drugs.
These pumps will be instrumental in providing seamless care for patients, as they remain with the individual from the Emergency Department to specialised wards, such as cardiology, surgical, oncology, or medical units. Once the patient no longer requires the device, it returns to the Emergency Department for use by the next patient.
The hospital’s Senior Biomedical Technician Malcolm Schweitzer said the Chapmans’ generosity would deliver improved health care to countless patients over the devices’ lifespan.
“These infusion pumps are a critical tool in modern healthcare, enabling us to deliver precise treatments efficiently. Donations like this directly benefit our patients and support our healthcare professionals in delivering the highest standard of care,” Mr Schweitzer said.
Rob and Margaret Chapman are well-known benefactors of CHHC, with a long history of supporting the hospital through donations of essential medical equipment across various departments. Their contributions over many years have significantly enhanced the quality of care provided to the Coffs Harbour community.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to support our local hospital and ensure that its dedicated healthcare teams have the tools they need to provide excellent care,” Mr Chapman said.
“We’re delighted to know this donation will positively impact so many lives.”
Mrs Chapman added, “We hope this equipment will continue to benefit patients for years to come, improving outcomes for those who need it most. Supporting our community in this way is an honour.”
The couple’s generosity underscores the importance of community support in healthcare, ensuring CHHC continues to provide outstanding care for the Coffs Coast region.
