Newport Village residents, and Irish tunes, support sick babies

Apr 30, 2024

Port Macquarie Base Hospital’s Paediatric Team has extended its gratitude to Newport Village residents for their ongoing support and generosity.

Their recent $1330 donation towards a milk warmer for the Paediatric Unit is greatly appreciated, said Nurse Unit Manager Darlene Malineack.

“Thanks to this thoughtful contribution, our dedicated paediatric team can now safely warm breast milk for our precious little patients. This gift ensures that even during challenging times, sick babies receive the nourishment and care they need to thrive,” Darlene said.

“We’re immensely grateful to the vibrant community members who came together for the St Patrick’s Day fundraiser.”

Organiser John Norton said with almost 70 attendees, including near neighbours from The Retreat, the event was a vibrant celebration filled with green hues, Irish melodies, and spirited dancing.

Special thanks to Settler’s Inn, Bunnings and Dan Murphy’s for their generous prize donations, and DJ Bruce for keeping the energy going throughout the night.

But the giving spirit doesn’t end there!

Save the date for Newport Village’s upcoming event, “Rock Around the Clock” featuring talented musician Stevie B on May 18.

“Join us for an evening of music and merriment, with all proceeds going to support the Wauchope Palliative Care Unit,” John said.

“Let’s continue to rally together for a cause close to our hearts!

“To all who contribute, attend, and support our fundraisers, your kindness knows no bounds. Together, we’re making a meaningful impact on the lives of those in our community.

“Let’s keep the spirit of generosity alive and continue spreading joy wherever we go!”
