Lilli Pilli Ladies’ $6,210 for IV poles supports cancer patients
Dec 19, 2024The Lilli Pilli Ladies from Kempsey have again made a significant contribution to cancer care in the Hastings-Macleay region, donating $6,210 for 21 IV poles for the Mid North Coast Cancer Institute (MNCCI) at Port Macquarie and its outreach clinic at Kempsey District Hospital.
These new four-hook IV poles will play a crucial role in improving patient care, particularly in chemotherapy treatment rooms where multiple medications are often administered simultaneously.
MNCCI Nurse Unit Manager Nikki Rooimans expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the donation, highlighting the Lilli Pilli Ladies as steadfast supporters who consistently ensure local cancer patients have the essential resources needed for their treatment and care.
“The four-hook IV poles are a wonderful addition to our facilities. They have many advantages over standard IV poles, particularly in settings like chemotherapy treatment rooms where patients often require multiple medications or therapies simultaneously,” Ms Rooimans said.
“The single pole with multiple hooks also reduces the need for multiple poles around a patient, improving mobility and minimising trip hazards, helping to declutter a space that is already busy with other pieces of medical equipment.
“The entire MNCCI team express their heartfelt thanks to the Lilli Pilli Ladies and their supporters for their dedication and generosity, which continues to make a difference in the lives of those facing cancer.”
The Lilli Pilli Ladies have been solid supporters of palliative and cancer patients across the Hastings-Macleay region for almost a decade. Their efforts have delivered more than $200,000 in donations, funding vital medical equipment and patient comfort items that have a lasting impact on local healthcare services.
Lilli Pilli Ladies President Judy Saul attributed the group’s continued success to the generosity of the Macleay community.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have such tremendous support from our community. It’s this ongoing generosity that enables us to make meaningful contributions, like this one, to support patients and their families,” she said.
