Lilli Pilli Ladies’ hefty donation to cancer institute
Oct 06, 2023Kempsey’s Lilli Pilli Ladies have donated two state-of-the-art Digital Measuring Stations to the Mid North Coast Cancer Institute.
The $8276 donation means the cancer unit now has Wi-Fi capable stations that enable data to be downloaded to the electronic medical records system; eliminating the potential for human error during the transcription process.
The stations are not only more accurate, but one can simultaneously measure height while measuring weight, both of which are important metrics for cancer treatment.
Acting Nurse Unit Manager Kristy Long said the smart scales were a welcome addition to the campus.
“These devices not only eliminate the potential for mistakes when transcribing numbers to patient forms and then again into the medical records system, but they save a significant amount of time, which means we can spend more time with our patients and less time inputting data,” Ms Long said.
“This is smart technology that improves patient-centred care, clinical outcomes and patient safety.
“Kempsey’s Lilli Pilli Ladies have worked tirelessly over the past seven years to support Kempsey and Port Macquarie patients through improved technology, state-of-the-art medical equipment, and patient comfort items, such as our refurbished quiet rooms.
“We are very grateful for their support because it really does make a difference to our patients.”
The Lilli Pilli Ladies have also donated equipment in support of cancer and palliative care patients at Kempsey District Hospital.
Their next fundraiser is Kempsey’s Cuppa for Cancer at the Anglican Church in West Kempsey on Saturday 28 October. Doors open at 12.45 for 1pm start. Tickets are $20 and must be pre-purchased through K&A Boutique.
