Social Worker Jessica Trembath has been named the Allied Health Professional of the Year at NSW Health’s 2022 Excellence in Allied Health Awards.

Jessica, who works in Perinatal Mental Health at Port Macquarie Community Health, received the prestigious award at an awards ceremony in Sydney last night.

In accepting her award from NSW Health Secretary Susan Pearce, Jessica acknowledged the “informal culture of mentoring” within the district for helping shape her as an allied health professional.

“Over the years I’ve just had some amazing mentors. I’ve had people that have given of their time, their knowledge … and I really want to acknowledge that tonight,” she said.

“It’s really important to pass down that knowledge … it makes it better for our patients and our communities.”

Three other Mid North Coast Local Health District staff were finalists in the awards. Acting District Manager Community Service Reform Sarah Fox was nominated in the Allied Health Leader of the Year category, Allied Health Assistant Jennifer Pitt in the Allied Health Assistant, Technician or Support Person of the Year category, and Occupational Therapist Koby Old in the Early Career Allied Health Professional of the Year category.
