Nov 30, 2023

16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence 25 November to 10 December 2023.

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.

The MNCLHD, as part of its Working to Stop Violence Strategy- a Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) response initiative, is publishing a series of articles to raise awareness on DFV.

Introducing Willow – Women’s Legal on the Go.

Developed by Women’s Legal Services NSW (WLS NSW), Willow was specifically designed to provide easy access to simplified online legal information for women escaping violence or in crisis, women with low literacy and women with limited digital capability.

The website loads quickly and easily on mobile phones or other portable devices, even in areas with poor 3G connections, making this accessible for women in regional and rural areas.

Women’s Legal Services NSW is an independent, non-profit organisation which provides a voice for women in NSW, and promotes access to justice, particularly for women who are disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances.

From a feminist perspective, WLS NSW fosters legal and social change to redress the inequalities that women experience through:

  • legal advice and casework
  • community legal education
  • law and policy reform

WLS NSW is funded by the Commonwealth and State governments.

Women’s Legal Service NSW has also developed Ask LOIS.

Ask LOIS is a secure website providing a free legal online information service for community workers across NSW who are working with women who are experiencing or escaping domestic violence.

The resource is particularly targeted at regional and rural workers and aims to provide legal training, information, advice and support, via free webinars and a resource library.

Ask LOIS access and further information can be obtained online: Ask LOIS – Community Legal Online Information Service – Women’s Legal Service NSW (wlsnsw.org.au)
