Coffs Harbour sparkles bright for Tinsel Trophy

Dec 24, 2024

The annual Tinsel Trophy competition at Coffs Harbour Health Campus reached dazzling new heights this year, with 25 entries competing for the top honour.

Staff from across the facility embraced the 2024 theme, ‘An Aussie Christmas,’ with creativity, pride, and a healthy dose of determination, all inspired by last year’s winners, the CHHC Cleaning Staff.

Some teams even worked throughout the year to plan and generate the original Christmas decorations in their wards and departments.

Coffs Harbour Health Campus General Manager Lydia Dennett reflected on the fierce competition, noting it was the most spirited the campus had seen in over 15 years. “The effort and dedication shown by everyone has been truly remarkable,” she said. “It’s clear how much thought and pride went into every decoration.”

The judging panel was impressed by the innovative use of recycled and repurposed materials, handmade Australian flora and fauna, crocheted prawns and themed costumes. Decorations weren’t limited to walls—ceiling displays transformed wards into festive showcases of creativity and teamwork.

“The competition demonstrates without question the strong and passionate engagement of all staff. So many staff have excelled in giving real thought and consideration to the theme and it was extremely pleasing to see the genuine creativity, the attention to detail and extraordinary pride that staff have in their hospital.”
