Champions steering positive workplace culture

Sep 14, 2023

Developing professional skills in promoting positive workplaces was the focus of a training day for the MNCLHD People and Culture Advisory Group members.

The local health district has culture champions throughout services and facilities to support staff in building supportive, inclusive and connected workplaces. Members of the groups are staff who volunteer their time to share and implement ideas to improve staff engagement and organisational culture.

Professional development days are designed based on the NSW Health Leadership and Management Framework. Our champions meet virtually once a month, and it was wonderful to bring the group together in real life. The theme for the session was ‘Transforming the System – transforming complex organisations is among the most difficult aspects of health leadership, and one of the most rewarding.’

The sessions included Leading Change, a session from Aboriginal Health Worker Simone Smith on How to develop your own Acknowledgement of Country, and a session on Solution-Focused Problem-Solving.
