The amazing members of Hastings Auto Restorers Society have delivered a $6000 donation to Mid North Coast Cancer Institute in support of local cancer patients.

Club president Chris Whalley said some of the funds were raised at last September’s HARS swap meet at Port Macquarie Racecourse, the club’s first swap meet since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Five-hundred dollars was donated by the Port Macquarie-Hastings SES, whose members managed parking at the event, now in its 13th year.

The remaining $4709 was raised by prostate cancer survivor Ron (Rocket) Turnbull and his fellow raffle ticket sellers Norma Dwyer, Len Colbert and Peter Denham.

“We are delighted to be back, supporting cancer patients at the Mid North Coast Cancer Institute after a three-year break because of COVID,” Mr Whalley said.

“The SES volunteers helped us reach our total, and helped make a huge success of the swap meet day, and of course the raffle made an enormous contribution to our donation.

“Settlement City, IGA Wauchope and everyone who bought tickets also made this gift possible.”

The car enthusiasts’ latest donation brings the club’s support of MNCCI at Port Macquarie to an impressive $73,000.
