A glamourous and generous night was enjoyed by all at the Bellingen District Hospital gala.

The Bellinger River District Hospital is celebrating the resounding success of its 120th anniversary gala event held last weekend. It has raised a staggering $11,500 thanks to the generosity of local business donations of prizes.

It was an elegant evening featuring guests in stunning attire, gourmet canapés and live entertainment bringing the community together to reminisce about the invaluable service the hospital has provided since 1903.

Bellinger River District Hospital Executive Officer Lisa Slater said the support of the community, staff and local businesses led to such an outstanding result for the hospital’s fundraising efforts.

“Not only was it a chance for us to reflect on 120 years of history, but it has again shown us the power of care, compassion and collaboration within the Bellingen community,” Lisa said.

“We were astounded at the amount of money raised on the night. The funds will make a significant impact enabling the purchase of equipment and enhancing patient care, directly benefiting the health and well-being of the community.”

Several people were thanked for their tireless work promoting and supporting the event and the hospital throughout the years. These included volunteer organiser Pauline Murphy, the United Hospital Auxiliary, hospital staff, doctor Trevor Cheney and Chantel Baker.

“It was a great team effort that showcased our history, I’d just like to thank everyone for their generosity. We are forever grateful for the community support we receive not just from this event, but every day.”
