Dorrigo nurses named Team of the Year in state awards
Nov 20, 2023The nursing team at Dorrigo Multi Purpose Service has won the Team of the Year category at the 11th annual NSW Health 2023 Excellence in Nursing and Midwifery Awards.
The small team was selected from hundreds of nominations across NSW in nine award categories which celebrate and recognise the exceptional care being provided by nurses and midwives across the NSW Health system.
For the first time since 2019, the awards were held as a live ceremony at Parliament House.
Mid North Coast Local Health District Chief Executive Stewart Dowrick said the Dorrigo nursing team was highly deserving of the honour for their commitment and compassion in providing exceptional care to all patients.
“The small team works tirelessly to meet the needs of their rural community and was recognised for their nurturing supportive teamwork and for championing professional development,” Mr Dowrick said.
“As a team they identify ways to meet gaps in skills or services so the local community can access the necessary care and staff members can access training close to home.
“From the Assistants in Nursing to the Nurse Unit Managers, the team’s willingness and cooperative spirit is inspirational.
“Every team member pulls together, and they truly epitomise the qualities of rural connection and resilience and caring about community.”
Health Minister Ryan Park extended his sincere congratulations to the 29 winners and finalists.
“The professional achievements, compassion and dedication on display at the awards ceremony were nothing short of remarkable,” Mr Park said.
“I also want to thank all of our nurses and midwives across the state for the skill, professionalism, and heartfelt care they provide each and every day to the people of NSW.”
