Mid North Coast Local Health District Health Promotion and Clinical Nurse Specialist, Rhonda Wykes, features in a short video which showcases the essential role Child and Family Health Nurses play in providing support to children and their families.

Rhonda shares her experience as a clinician of how she has worked with a family to identify behaviours they wanted to change, develop their own solutions and make sustainable changes.

“Child assessment provides a great opportunity to discuss healthy lifestyle behaviours and to provide advice for families that can make a huge difference to their overall health,” Rhonda said. 

The video provides a real-life example of how health care professionals can influence the health of children and their families.

It also highlights how prevention can be embedded into routine clinical care and is part of an ongoing commitment to supporting children and their families on the MNCLHD make changes that positively impact their health.
