Port Macquarie’s Newport Village celebrated St Patrick’s Day with a showstopper this year, raising $1600 to support local stroke and rehabilitation patients.

The retirement village’s resident charity event extraordinaire, John Norton, a former Les Girls performer in Sydney, enlisted the dressmaking skills of retired Port Macquarie Base Hospital nurse Sharon Warwick and the result was a sequined and feathered success!

About 90 residents enjoyed a mesmerizing performance by ‘Jeanette Andre’, who delivered cabaret favourites such as New York, New York, City Lights and I Am What I Am.

Resident Dave’s Irish stew was also a show-stopper on the night, along with DJ Bruce and musician Greg delivered the nostalgic tunes.

John’s hospital fundraisers, always enthusiastically supported by Newport Village residents, are approaching a total of $10,000 over the past three years.
