Jan 12, 2023Coffs Harbour volunteers were in the spotlight when Minister for Regional Health and Mental Health Bronnie Taylor visited Coffs Harbour Health Campus today.
The Minister was on site to officially mark the completion of the $194 million Coffs Harbour Health Campus Expansion Project.
She was joined by Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh, Acting Mid North Coast Local Health District Chief Executive Lydia Dennett, Mid North Coast Local Health District Governing Board Member Luke Hartsuyker, Acting General Manager Janelle Goodall, and Health Infrastructure Chief Executive Rebecca Wark.
But the Minister also made sure the volunteers knew their hard work was appreciated.
Talking about the $194 million project, Ms Taylor also spoke of the commitment and dedication of volunteers, and the contribution they made to patient wellbeing in the newly refurbished and expanded hospital.
Refurbishments have been completed on Emergency Department staff areas, perioperative services, support services areas, sterilising services, medical and rehabilitation wards, outpatient services, cardiac catheter laboratory, education and administration services.
The project has delivered additional facilities and services for the Coffs Harbour community and surrounding areas, including:
- a larger emergency department
- additional new operating theatres
- a new short-stay surgical unit
- additional critical care and inpatient beds
- an expansion of ambulatory care for the community to access outpatient health services
- increased capacity for renal dialysis
- research and education facilities.
