Here we are in 2021…after a tough year, 2020 was a challenging and unprecedented year, this is the time when taking care of ourselves is so very important. Take a minute to look at a few ideas.

Pause, take a moment to breath  – better…ok so here you will find simple but effective breathing practices to use anytime anywhere.

Square Breathing

This is a quick and easy breathing practice that assists in reducing stress and increasing wellbeing and mindfulness.

Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold breath for 4 seconds, breathe out for 4 seconds, hold breath for 4 seconds.

Move It

A few ideas for body movement in the workplace.

Stand up  and sit down a few times  and don’t use your hands to help you. You can do this talking on the phone or while have a cup of tea, it only needs to be a few times

Take a deep breathe and shrug your shoulders up to your ears  on the exhale let them drop down , repeat this a few times.

Yoga

Meditation

Some different approaches or techniques to meditation  for different contexts. Meditation is about focusing and quietening the mind by focusing on a single object.

Checkout the Nursewell app, you can download for free from either google play or the app store for apple. This app was developed by the team at south eastern Sydney LHD, provides information and activities targeted at some key health concerns of nurses and midwives and all healthcare staff, such as sleep, back health, nutrition and more.

Insight timer app , is a free app  with an extensive collection of guided mediations, it also has podcasts, courses , talks for kids…its truly a wonderful resource. Download from either google play or app store.

Thrive Global mission is to end the  burnout epidemic with sustainable, science based solutions. There is also an app available for android users.

Wisdom 2.0 addresses the challenge of our age: to not only live connected to one another through technology, but to do so in ways that are beneficial to our own wellbeing, effective in our work and useful to the world.

The Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education  This center is part of Stanford University School of Medicine, its explicit goal is to promote support and conduct scientific study of compassion and altruistic behaviour. It is a fantastic resource, spend some time to explore the site.
