Coffs Hub

Coffs Harbour Health Campus Executives and Emergency Department Director put forward a proposal in 2013 to be included in the Federal Governments Emergency Medicine initiative, and so the EMET program was introduced in 2014. Initially, the program was implemented to increase confidence of medical staff working at smaller sites who may feel isolated from Emergency Medicine training.

EMET has now expanded to General Practitioner and Practice Training, and continues to visit Macksville, Bellingen and Dorrigo hospitals for regular Emergency Medicine education.

Dr Karly Field is the Senior Staff Specialist and lead FACEM facilitating the Emergency Medicine Education and Training (EMET) program at Coffs Harbour Health Campus, Dorrigo, Bellingen & Macksville Hospitals. EMET seeks to improve care for patients requiring urgent and emergency medical services across the Coffs Coast.

Dr Field and the team deliver training all over the region with assistance from the iSim Centre. All training sessions are Emergency Medicine based and include a range of Learning Techniques including modern simulation technology.

Dr Field and the team have been successful in furthering their funding from 2018 – 2020.  Click here for further information about EMET’s  2018-2020 funding.
