LOVE BiTES
LOVE BiTES is a respectful relationships education program for young people aged 15-17 years. It has been successfully delivered in schools on the Mid North Coast for many years and is presented by a mix of male and female workers from NSW Health, NSW Police and youth workers from our non-government partners. The LOVE BiTES program consists of two interactive workshops on relationship violence and sex and relationships, followed by creative workshops. LOVE BiTES is a flexible model with options to use a full day or separate sessions. The program emphasises the importance of a whole-of-school commitment to respectful relationship education.
LOVE BiTES aims to provide young people with a safe environment to examine, discuss and explore respectful relationships with a strength-based approach. It views young people as active participants who are able to make choices for themselves and their relationships when supported.
LOVE BiTES encourages and develops young people’s skills in critical thinking and assists them in being able to problem solve and communicate effectively. When equipped in these areas young people can make the right choices for themselves and their relationships that are free from violence and abuse.
LOVE BiTES Junior
Focuses on the development of respectful relationships for 11-14 year olds. It is a suite of 3 programs designed to be delivered consecutively in schools to build young people’s relationship skills.
Year 7 #friends
Covers themes such as communicating mindfully, power in relationships, seeking help and using social media safely.
Year 8 Respectful Relationships, Bullying and Gender
Includes respect in relationships, gender roles and stereotypes, jealousy, sexual harassment and homophobia, challenging harassment and seeking help.
Year 9 Relationships, Love and Control
Covers gender expectations and relationships, responding to jealous feelings, warning signs of a controlling/abusive relationship, supporting friends, seeking help and breaking up respectfully.
