Port Macquarie Pink Ladies swapped their smocks for Spring Racing Carnival finery on Oaks Day, gathering together to celebrate Ladies Day and acknowledge 10 years’ service for two of their own.

Denise Perrin and Marlene Sutherland received their United Hospital Auxiliaries of NSW 10-year service badges from Pink Ladies President Gabby Gregory.

Mid North Coast Local Health District Corporate Relations Manager Sharon Fuller was then tasked with the difficult job of judging the best fascinators.

First prize went to Betty Whiting for her hand-made effort, showing plenty of ingenuity and flair in remodelling a comb, an artificial flower and some ribbon.

The Pink Ladies were thanked for their service at Port Macquarie Base Hospital, where, daily, they bring smiles to the faces of patients, visitors and staff.

The volunteers have also launched their Christmas Raffle in support of the base hospital. The Pink Ladies each have a book of raffle tickets to sell for the bargain price of $2 a ticket. Up for grabs are three giant Christmas hampers. The raffle will be drawn in the hospital cafeteria on Wednesday 14 December.
