Heart Health team enjoys lakeside gathering
Mar 30, 2023About 60 members of Heart Health NSW gathered together for a lunchtime barbecue recently.
The Lake Cathie foreshore area was the perfect venue for the get-together, where members could catch up on the volunteer group’s latest news, including donations in support of cardiac patients at Port Macquarie Base Hospital.
The group also held its regular raffle, helping to boost fundraising opportunities in support of heart patients.
Heart Heath NSW provides an engaging service from many volunteers who dedicate their time to support inpatients during their stay in hospital.
The support is provided to patients and their carers through a buddy system while patients receive their treatment. The volunteers also work in a community setting where they assist the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, working tirelessly to support the growth of the service as well as the cardiology services.
Heart Health NSW also has 4 walking groups that meet each week. The aim of each group is to provide both exercise and social interactivity between those who have experienced a heart event and/or their carers.
Each group conducts a walk, in which participants walk as far and as fast as they wish.
LAURIETON WALKING GROUP
Meets every Monday at Laurieton United Services Club Car Park at 9.00 am.
Coffee afterwards at LUSC.
