Bringing back the big smiles and helping hands
Feb 17, 2022Mid North Coast Local Health District volunteers are starting to return to hospitals and health campuses thanks to high vaccination rates and ongoing screening precautions at NSW Health sites.
The Mid North Coast Cancer Institute’s Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour campuses are making the most of the extra hands as volunteers help ready patient care packs for distribution.
Coffs Harbour Health Campus has welcomed back a small number of General Volunteers on the enquiry desk and in the Pink Ladies’ buggy.
Facility Support Manager Jo Shaw said staff and visitors were excited to see the “wonderful orange shirts” back at the health campus.
Kempsey District Hospital is also readying a small group of volunteers for their return to non-patient areas, as is the criteria for the return of any volunteer.
And Macksville, Bellingen and Coffs Harbour café volunteers are serving arguably the best coffee on the coast.
Managers wanting to reach out to volunteers are asked to contact Facility Support Managers Jo Shaw at Coffs or Melainie Ison at Port Macquarie Base or District Corporate Relations Manager Sharon Fuller, who will liaise the groups’ presidents and coordinators.
