Port Macquarie Base Hospital has a 7 chair in center dialysis unit providing hemodialysis for people with end-stage renal failure who are not able to manage dialysis at home and who are clinically unsuitable for dialysis in a limited care/satellite setting . The Dialysis Unit also provides dialysis support for the Port Macquarie Base Hospital  Intensive Care and Cardiac Care Units; provides acute after hours on-call dialysis services and manages acutely unwell patients from Kempsey Hospital Dialysis Unit.

We provide an outreach service for patients who dialyse at home before they go for training and once they return from being trained. Currently home patients are trained in Ballina and home Peritoneal Dialysis patients are trained in John Hunter Hospital, this will all change one the new Kempsey Dialysis unit opens as it will open with  new training facility for home hemodialysis and home peritoneal dialysis training.

We also provide support services in the way of dietetics, social work, renal case manager and transplantation work-ups.

We have a 5 chair satellite unit in Kempsey District Hospital for non-acute dialysis patients who  are not able to manage dialysis at home.
