Children’s (Paediatric) Unit

Paediatrics is a medical specialty that manages medical conditions affecting babies, children and young people. The Mid North Coast Local Health District provides this service at Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie Base Hospitals.

Age range for the service is 2 weeks – 16 years.

Coffs Harbour Paediatric Unit

A 16 bed unit with an outdoor/indoor playground area and lounge room for adolescents.  The unit provides medical, surgical, orthopaedic and mental health services with 3 Visiting Medical Officer Paediatricians and 1 Staff Specialist Paediatrician.  The unit also provides a Volunteer Red Cross Play Scheme. The unit receives direct and Emergency Department referral admissions.

Port Macquarie Paediatric Unit

A 15 bed unit with a large outdoor terrace and indoor playground.  The unit provides medical, surgical and mental health services with 2 Visiting Medical Officer Paediatricians and 1 Staff Specialist Paediatrician.The unit also provides a Volunteer Ward Nanny service.  The unit receives direct and Emergency Department referral admissions.
