School Based Immunisation Program

NSW Ministry of Health works with educational authorities to offer students vaccinations recommended by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). Scheduled vaccinations for the School Based Vaccination Program in 2017 are listed below:

Vaccine Year Number of doses
Varicella (chicken pox) Year 7 1 dose
Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis (dTpa) Year 7 1 dose
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Year 7 3 doses*
Meningococcal ACWY Year 11-12 1 dose

*Changes to HPV vaccine doses: For further information please click here

  • Free vaccine is only available to students who have a signed consent form and who commence the vaccine course while they’re in Year 7 or Year 11-12 (for meningococcal ACWY vaccination).
  • Students who miss vaccine doses due to absence on the day of the nurses’ visit will be offered catch-up vaccination at subsequent school clinics. Where this is not possible, parents will be advised that free catch-up vaccination is available at their local GP during the school year only.
  • Parents who choose to wait for their child to be older before consenting to vaccination will be required to pay for the vaccines privately.

Should you wish to obtain a record of your child’s immunisations provided at school by this program.  Please complete a Request for Student Vaccination Record Form and send to the Assistant to the Director Public Health either via e-mail, fax or post – details below:
