Approximately one in three older Australians will suffer a fall each year. Many of those falls result in serious injury or even death.
The most effective way to prevent a fall is to improve your strength and balance.
Stepping On is a free falls prevention group for older people in the community, to help build confidence and reduce your risk of falls injuries.
If you are concerned about falling, or have already had a fall, it is ideal for you.
Designed for people who are able to walk by themselves, or with a walking stick, Stepping On helps older people to stay independent safely and for longer.
A trained Stepping On leader and guest speakers provide two hours of education and practical exercises to improve strength and balance.
The seven weekly sessions and two month follow-up cover a range of topics, including falls risks, medicines and vision.
More information about Stepping On programs in your area is available via the “Contact Us” button below, or by visiting the Active and Healthy website.
