The Sexual Assault Service provides support to children, teenagers, and adults who have experienced sexual assault. Through counselling the client is assisted to understand what they are feeling and supported to recover from the emotional impacts of the sexual assault. Counselling support is also offered to significant others, which includes parents, family members and friends.
Sexual Assault Service provides:
- Crisis 24 hour service for recent victims of sexual assault (within last 7 days or children who have disclosed child sexual abuse)
- Forensic medicals
- Short or long term counselling
- Court preparation and court support on the day of the trail
- Community education.
After hours crisis for sexual assault:
On call/after hours crisis for sexual assault is via the Emergency Department.

24 hour Crisis Service
Only for recent sexual assaults within the last 7 days & children who has disclosed child sexual assault.
Referrals
Direct referrals can be made during business hours for anyone 16 years and above. Referrals can be made by the individual, family member, GP, other professionals.
Referrals for children
Under 16 years are made via the JIRT Senior Health Clinician or Community Family Services after the JIRT investigation process has been completed. Referrals for children 16 years and under cannot be directly made to the service.
