Cardiac Rehabilitation

More Australians die of cardiovascular disease than any other (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2018). A high proportion of these are premature and preventable. Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) is an evidenced based comprehensive multidisciplinary service to improve prognosis for patients post cardiac event and decrease premature death and improve quality of life.  Using the national Health and Medical Research Criteria (NHMRC), there is level 1 experience for CR which provides patients with a weekly program of education, exercise and support (National Heart Foundation of Australia and Australian Cardiac Rehabilitation Association, 2004).
