“The Aboriginal Family Health Strategy 2011-2016“works in partnership with Aboriginal people and their communities to work towards safer communities and Aboriginal people living healthy lives, free of family violence.
The Strategy uses prevention, early intervention and community development approaches that focus on Aboriginal family, culture and healing.
Overall, the Strategy assists with:
- Coordinating community awareness and networking initiatives between both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities and organisations with a focus on Family and Domestic Violence and Child protection issues
- Development of culturally appropriate resources and education initiatives with key stakeholders
- Development of Aboriginal workforce through education initiatives to improve responses to family violence in Aboriginal communities
- Engagement and collaboration with Aboriginal communities regarding responses to Family/domestic violence and child protection issues.
