Vanessa EdwardsDirector Communications
Vanessa was appointed to the role of Director Communications for the Mid North Coast Local Health District in October 2015 and enjoys the diversity and daily challenges posed by the position.
Vanessa is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Managers and Leaders and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Vanessa holds the tertiary qualifications of Bachelor of Arts, Master of Letters and Master of Arts (Hons) in language, literature and communications from the University of New England.
Vanessa joined the NSW Public Sector (Health) in 2001 and since then has held numerous roles working across human resources, executive and ministerial services, community / consumer engagement, public relations and media.
Living on the Mid North Coast, Vanessa enjoys the wonderful climate, coastal and forest scenery for which this part of Australia is well known.
Vanessa coordinates and provides information and advice to a range of stakeholders to ensure consistent and accurate communication is available to community, staff and partners.
Vanessa’s role manages a highly skilled team which has responsibility for the coordination of the District’s Governing Board and the Office of the Chief Executive.
The Directorate also manages the functions of corporate governance, media, external and internal communications, social media, fundraising, compliments and District complaints, Ministerial coordination, parliamentary and local member liaison as well as official District events such as the annual MNCLHD Awards and submissions to state awards.
With a passion for improving health literacy Vanessa was instrumental in the establishment of the MNCLHD Integrated Multi Media Unit. This team delivers high quality film and digital productions offering improved messaging of health services, digital and social promotion of the many health literacy and health improvement programs across the District.

In collaboration with key stakeholders, our objective is to deliver tailored strategic information across multiple platforms to support our people, our services and programs, health consumers and the wider community.
