Potential Picassos will help fund courtyard masterpiece
Oct 11, 2024The Westport Club is putting the finishing touches on a masterpiece for the Mid North Coast Cancer Institute (MNCCI). It is leading a series of fundraisers to transform the institute’s courtyard into a rejuvenating sanctuary for patients, visitors, and staff.
A highlight of the club’s upcoming fundraisers is the Paint ‘n’ Sip charity afternoon, set for Saturday, 19 October. The community is invited to come together to create their own artwork while contributing to the revitalisation of this important outdoor space.
“Not only is it an opportunity to learn how to paint, but it will raise money towards this vital project,” said Steve Binstadt, Marketing Manager at The Westport Club.
“As a club dedicated to being ‘great together,’ we’re proud to show our commitment to the community by supporting the MNCCI and ensuring this garden becomes a peaceful retreat for everyone.”
MNCCI Nurse Unit Manager Nikki Rooimans expressed her excitement for the project.
“The courtyard is concrete and steel but it has so much potential.
“Westport’s plan to revitalise the space and create a garden atmosphere will bring a real sense of healing and tranquillity to people who may be feeling anxious or overwhelmed about their cancer treatment.
“The opportunity to step outside, breathe in fresh air, and feel the warmth of the sun offers a moment of calm and comfort in a very difficult time.”
The Paint ‘n’ Sip charity afternoon takes place from 3pm to 5pm at The Westport Club. Tickets are $80 per person. All proceeds will go directly towards the courtyard garden renovation, creating a space for relaxation and reflection for all who visit the MNCCI.
Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.ticketebo.com.au/greattogetherpaintnsip
The Paint ‘n Sip charity afternoon follows the club’s recent Barefoot Bowls event where participants dressed in pink and bowled their way to a successful start to the fundraising event series.
The next and final event will be the club’s major raffle on Sunday 27 October. More than $5000 worth of prizes will be on offer. Tickets are available at the club on Buller Street and at MNCCI.
