Port City Bowls and Hastings Cancer Trust support MNCCI

Port City Bowling Club joined forces with Hastings Cancer Trust to generously donate $6,720 to Mid North Coast Cancer Institute (MNCCI). This donation provided MNCCI with two saddle chairs and a HemoCue device, enhancing the care and comfort of cancer patients during their treatment.

The saddle chairs, valued for their ergonomic design, will significantly improve the posture, mobility, and comfort of nurses as they move between patients. These chairs also enable nurses to be at eye level with patients, fostering better communication and interaction—an essential aspect of oncology care where patient comfort and clear communication are critical.

The donation also included a HemoCue, a portable point-of-care diagnostic device that measures haemoglobin levels from a small blood sample. This device is crucial as it makes the procedure less invasive and more comfortable for patients undergoing frequent treatments.

Katy-Lee Waldron, Marketing Manager of Port City Bowling Club, expressed her delight in the club’s continued support of the Hastings Cancer Trust.

“We are proud of our association with Hastings Cancer Trust, which this year resulted in much-needed equipment for MNCCI. It has been an honour to support their mission to help local cancer patients.”

MNCCI Nurse Unit Manager Nikki Rooimans expressed her gratitude for the donation.

“We are incredibly thankful to Port City Bowling Club and Hastings Cancer Trust for their generosity,” Ms Rooimans said.

“The addition of these saddle chairs and the HemoCue device will greatly enhance the care we can provide to our patients, making their treatment experience more comfortable and improving our ability to monitor their health effectively.

“The partnership between the Port City Bowling Club and the Hastings Cancer Trust exemplifies the power of community collaboration in supporting local healthcare initiatives and improving the lives of cancer patients in the Mid North Coast.”
