Coffs Harbour’s home-grown charity Pink Silks Trust has donated an incredible $27,000 worth of essential equipment to Coffs Harbour Health Campus’ loan pool for palliative care patients.

Mid North Coast Local Health District Manager Palliative Care Services, Susanne Pritchard, said the donation would significantly enhance the opportunity for palliative patients to remain in their own homes, allowing them to spend valuable time with their loved ones in comfort and dignity.

The donated equipment includes two electric nursing care beds, two bedside rails, four wheelchairs, two foldable walking frames, two mobile shower chairs, two commode seats, two commode accessories, two commode pans, two pressure-relieving mattresses and two air mattresses.

“We are deeply grateful for this donation, which makes a significant contribution to our palliative care service,” Ms Pritchard said.

“This significant boost to our loan pool will greatly benefit families supporting a palliative care patient at home, ensuring they have access to hospital-grade equipment that can make all the difference in a patient’s quality of life.

“Coffs Harbour Health Campus and its palliative care team are profoundly thankful to the Pink Silks Trust for their ongoing support and commitment to patient wellbeing.”

Pink Silks Trust Committee Chair and Co-founder Tanya Johnson OAM said the charity had donated $1.375 million in support of women’s health needs in the past 17 years.

“This donation will mean a lot to families supporting a loved one who has a serious illness,” Ms Johnson said.

“It is crucial to give patients the option to stay at home if they wish, and our donation aims to make that choice easier and more comfortable.”

Ms Johnson said the Pink Silks Trust was only able to make such a significant contribution to the health and wellbeing of local women and their families because of the support it received from their recent charity event, Ladies Long Lunch at Latitude 30, held annually.

“Our committee members are honoured and proud of the positive impact the Trust is making in so many lives, made possible by the community’s strong support of our fundraising events like the Pink Silks Trust Golf Day and the Ladies Charity Race Day, both held every January, and the holding of events where we are the beneficiary.”

The District’s Director Integrated Care, Allied Health and Community Services, Jill Wong, also thanked the Pink Silks Trust for its support.

“The Pink Silks’ contribution extends beyond equipment — it provides our palliative care patients with the comfort of home and the dignity of spending precious time in familiar surroundings. This support reflects a deep understanding of what truly matters in their care journey,” Ms Wong said.
