Branch Patron Margaret Fitch wasn’t about to let a Chrtistmas party get in the way of some serious fundraising for Macksville District Hospital, selling raffle tickets at the door. Happy to help, as always, was the United Hospital Auxiliaries of NSW’s North Eastern Regional Representative and the UHA’s State Treasurer, Dee Hunter.

Nambucca UHA celebrates a year of fundraising success

Nov 21, 2024

The Nambucca Heads United Hospital Auxiliary (UHA) marked the end of a remarkable fundraising year with a festive celebration at Nambucca RSL Club, the home of their highly successful Bingo games.

The event was attended by about 60 UHA volunteers, loyal Bingo supporters, and representatives from Macksville District Hospital (MDH), coming together to acknowledge the extraordinary community effort that delivered $31,117 in vital medical equipment.

Special recognition was given to the UHA’s dedicated committee members for their leadership and tireless work in ensuring the fundraisers are not only successful, but also a lot of fun – President Michelle O’Keefe, Treasurer Keith Parkin, Assistant Treasurer Cathy Peck, Secretary Sharon McPherson and Branch Patron Margaret Fitch.

Their commitment, alongside the community’s generosity, has enabled the purchase of essential medical equipment, enhancing patient care at Macksville District Hospital.

Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery Mark Tyler thanked the volunteers on behalf of the entire MDH team.

“We are incredibly grateful for your hard work in delivering our wish list items (medical equipment),” Mr Tyler said.

“The $31,117 donated this past year has made a significant difference in our ability to deliver high-quality care to our patients. On behalf of the hospital team and our community, thank you for your incredible efforts.”

Also attending the event were Mid North Coast Local Health District Corporate Relations Manager Sharon Fuller and the UHA’s North Eastern Regional Representative Dee Hunter, who also thanked the volunteers for their support, adding how “grateful we are to have such a lovely hospital”.

The luncheon celebrated not just the funds raised but the community spirit and dedication of everyone involved.

President Michelle O’Keefe said her fellow volunteers look forward to continuing their efforts in 2025, ensuring Macksville District Hospital remains equipped to meet the needs of the local community.
