The much-loved and respected children’s charity Give Me 5 For Kids has presented a record $99,531.50 for paediatric and neo natal equipment at Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
Mid North Coast Local Health District Governing Board Chair Warren Grimshaw AM said he owed a debt of gratitude to Triple M Coffs Coast and its corporate partner, Woolworths, the radio station’s listeners and the broader community for the stunning outcome of the 2018 GM5FKs campaign.
“Our staff are, quite honestly, stunned and humbled by this remarkable show of support for our youngest patients,” Mr Grimshaw said.
“Everyone involved in this campaign should feel an enormous amount of pride in what has been achieved. It’s an extraordinary effort.”
Mr Grimshaw said Triple M’s live broadcast at the hospital on the last day of the campaign had, once again, been a stunning culmination to the month-long fundraiser, and he thanked the management and staff of Woolworths at Coffs Harbour, Toormina and Park Beach for their extraordinary efforts, not only in-store collecting donations but also providing the breakfast barbecue on the day.
“And a huge vote of thanks goes to brekky show announcer Michael ‘Moffee’ Moffett, who literally went to great lengths to support our patients – from 20 metres up in a crane to walking 50kms in five days.
“We are grateful for the support and so too are the families whose children and babies need our help.”
Triple M Coffs Coast General Manager Mike Crowhurst said he too was amazed by the Coffs Coast’s enthusiastic response to the fundraiser.
“Every year the support our local community has for this very important event amazes me,” Mr Crowhurst said.
“It is great to be involved and to also be able to see where the money goes in helping the children when they are in hospital.
“It is great to see our local community so invested in Give Me 5 For Kids.”
