Despite its small population, the Dorrigo community has shown extraordinary generosity over the past year in support of the Dorrigo branch of the United Hospital Auxiliary (UHA) of NSW.

At the branch’s Annual General Meeting on Thursday, President Lizzy Bennett announced the UHA had donated an impressive $19,354.99 in hospital equipment and patient comfort items to the Dorrigo Multi Purpose Service (MPS). The donations included four Invisa beams, two hi-low beds, a Sara Stedy, and a shower caddy.

In acknowledging the significance of the donation, President Lizzy thanked the Dorrigo community for making it possible.

Support for the UHA’s fundraisers was evident in raffle ticket sales, proceeds from the Made in Dorrigo markets, Dorrigo Dahlia Day, street stalls, an Easter Market, and a Mother’s Day ball organised by Rotary.

Highlights for the year also included 20-year service recognition awards for Shirley Tyson and Sandra McGuire, the regional UHA conference hosted by Dorrigo in March and recognition of the Dorrigo UHA in NSW Parliament by Member for Oxley Michael Kemp.

President Lizzy thanked the volunteers for their hard work.

“You have made a significant impact in enhancing the quality of life and care for patients at the MPS,” she said.

“Your dedication and generosity are commended as it directly improves the quality of life for others.”

President Lizzy also expressed her gratitude to Jade Gibson Property in Dorrigo and to other business supporters whose donations helped fuel the efforts of the UHA.

Mid North Coast Local Health District Corporate Relations Manager Sharon Fuller expressed her gratitude on behalf of the MPS for the UHA’s ongoing support.

“Your generosity, your time, your compassion and your kindness make the world of difference to our patients,” Mrs Fuller said.

“Words simply cannot adequately express our gratitude.”

Lizzy Bennett was returned as President for 2024-25, along with Treasurer Lexi Francis and Secretary Sue Eastment.
