World AIDS Day: Inclusion. Respect. Equity.

Dec 15, 2023

World AIDS Day 2023 World AIDS Day on 1 December was marked across the globe.

In Australia, it is a day for people to show support for people living with HIV, raise awareness about prevention, treatment and care, eliminate stigma and discrimination around HIV, and remember people who have died from AIDS-related illnesses.

Locally, the awareness day was supported by our HIV and Related Programs (HARP) team at community events across the Mid North Coast Local Health District.

Members of the HARP team collaborated with ACON (AIDS Council of NSW), providing valuable HIV and AIDS-related information and support to the community.

Primary Needle and Syringe Program (NSP), Sexual Health Services and Liver Health Services displayed merchandise and promotional material in the lead-up to and on World AIDS Day.

Community landmarks were also cast in a bright and brilliant red for the evening – in Port Macquarie, it was the Glasshouse and Town Green, and in Coffs Harbour, the Big Banana.

Port Macquarie’s Town Square lit for World AIDS Day.
