Speech pathologists were all ears at professional development day
Nov 15, 2023Mid North Coast Local Health District Speech Pathologists converged on South West Rocks for a Networking and Professional Development Day recently.
A concerted effort resulted in 17 of the approximate 25 Speech Pathologists in the district being able to attend.
The morning session contained short presentations from each of the departments on local quality initiatives. In the afternoon guest presenters Matthew Flowers and Alison Taylor, Nurse Educators from the Mental Health service, facilitated a session on self-care and stress management.
This is the first time in many years that the northern (Coffs Clinical Network) and southern (Hastings Macleay Clinical Network) Speech Pathology departments have met in person.
Survey results after the event showed all of the Speech Pathologists agreed the day was beneficial and would like to attend another professional development day next year.
