Schwartz Rounds relaunch brings staff together at Port Macquarie

Nov 18, 2024

On November 12, 2024, Port Macquarie Base Hospital saw an inspiring return of Schwartz Rounds, with 37 staff gathering to share and listen to stories around the theme, “The Power of Connection: A Colleague or Team Who Changed Me.”

The panel featured Emily Saul, Acting Director of Nursing and Midwifery; Nurse Practitioner Kirsty Baxter; Occupational Therapy Manager Ben Walkling; and Intensive Care Specialist Dr. Rob Hislop.

Each panellist shared a personal story about colleagues who have impacted them, highlighting the importance of a supportive “ride-or-die” friend or the fresh perspective of new team members.

Their stories underscored shared values like openness, humility, and trust, which play a pivotal role in creating a positive workplace culture.

At the close of the event, the panellists received Certificates of Acknowledgement for their contributions.

Schwartz Rounds offer a compassionate space for staff to reflect on the social and emotional aspects of healthcare—distinct from problem-solving or clinical focus, they’re open to all MNCLHD employees.
