Schwartz Rounds panellists showcase self-reflection

May 15, 2024

The Schwartz Rounds Leadership Group held its latest Schwartz Round, hosted by Coffs Harbour Health Campus on 8 May 2024.

The theme was ‘Making mistakes: coping with the impacts’ and the panel consisted of Chaplain Moni Guidon, Executive Assistant, People and Culture Sheridan Johnston, and A/Director of Nursing – Integrated Mental Health and AOD Services Kim Edwards.

Admitting to making mistakes is never easy, yet each panellist bravely put themselves forward to tell a story of a mistake and its impact personally and professionally.

The panellists displayed vulnerability and self-reflection and shared insight on how owning their mistake and learning from it, helped them to avoid making the same mistake again.

At the end of the Round, the panellists were each presented with a Certificate of Acknowledgement recognising their contribution to making the round a success.

Schwartz Rounds is a structured group forum where clinical and non-clinical employees meet regularly to discuss the emotional and social aspects of working in healthcare.

Schwartz Rounds provide an opportunity to take ‘time out’ to reflect on work in a safe, collegial and compassionate space.

Unlike other initiatives such as group reflective practice or clinical supervision, the purpose is not to solve problems or to focus on the clinical aspects of patient care. Schwartz Rounds are inclusive of all employees.

Future Schwartz Rounds dates and themes are published on the MNCLHD intranet.

If you are interested in being a future panellist, please send your expression of interest to MNCLHD-StaffHealth@health.nsw.gov.au. The opportunity to be a panellist is open to all MNCLHD staff including clinical, non-clinical and corporate team members.
