Newport Village residents have again rallied around fundraising efforts for Wauchope District Memorial Hospital’s Palliative Care patients.

A Halloween party and Melbourne Cup High Tea raised $2500 for an alternating air pressure mattress. This state-of-the-art mattress helps manage and prevent pressure-related injuries for patients who spend a lot of time in bed.

The events were hosted by the village’s Mr Entertainment, John Norton, with a small army of 15 Busy Bees committee members making sure everything was perfect, including food, treats, and raffles.

Musicians Dave Stephens and East Side Jazz provided the entertainment, and 70 residents at each event provided the funds.

Another resident, Joy Sabitzer, sold gift bags to add to the tally and donated some beautifully knitted berets for our patients.

Thanks John, Busy Bees, Joy and Newport residents for another much-appreciated donation.
