Kempsey focus team of the month a toadal double-act
May 03, 2024Kempsey’s Focus Team of the Month for April was a shared spot with Pathology and Pharmacy showcasing their teams and the services provided on-site at Kempsey Health Campus.
In addition to the month-long display in the main hospital foyer, both departments opened their doors for an hour last Friday, welcoming all to pop along, meet the teams, and glimpse a little of what they do.
Pharmacy and pathology services are tucked away on the lower ground floor of the CSB where not a lot of foot traffic flows and many staff have never been.
Many questions were answered, and some fun facts were learned – did you know male cane toads were used for pregnancy testing? True story, ask George from Pathology!
There were also competitions:
- How many pills are in the jar (1,360)*
- Identify the collection vessels and match the microscope slide images with the disease
Congratulations to Bec from ED who was the closest pill guesser with 1,347 and Kate Martin from IPU who, after a tiebreaker with Katie Croad, was declared the most knowledgeable in pathology.
Thanks to both teams for the insights into your worlds and where you fit into the KHC family.
Keep an eye out for May’s FTotM – our awesome volunteers!
The group will host a meet-and-greet morning tea later in the month to celebrate National Volunteer Week.
*Disclosure: No pills were wasted in the making of this competition, all were flagged for disposal.
