It’s in the Bag: Join the campaign to support women in need

Nov 15, 2024

During this year’s 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, the Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) is rallying behind the “It’s in the Bag” campaign by setting up donation points at our sites across the region.

Share the Dignity’s cherished Christmas appeal seeks to uplift women and girls in crisis by providing them with essential items through donated bags. Donations can be made 15 November until 1 December.

Why it matters

In Australia, domestic and family violence is a leading cause of homelessness. Women and children often face the difficult choice of leaving their homes to escape abuse, with 39 per cent of people seeking help from homelessness services in 2021-2022 having experienced domestic violence.

Through “It’s in the Bag,” we can make a real difference in the lives of women facing such challenges. Each donated bag, filled with essentials and small comforts, serves as a gesture of solidarity and hope for those navigating some of their most vulnerable times.

How you can help

We invite colleagues and the community to donate a new or gently used bag filled with essential items. For ideas on what to pack, check out the Share the Dignity website.
