Inclusion boards brighten up walls with helpful resources
Nov 04, 2024Across the local health district, Inclusion Boards are brightening walls and raising awareness of the resources to help us work with people with disability.
The boards were developed as part of the Enhancing Inclusion in the Health System project, which was recently featured in Inspire magazine.
The community resources were developed over the past four years to help people with disability access the health system for support offered in a more respectful, inclusive and collaborative way. The boards also help build knowledge about the supports that may be available.
The Inclusion Boards include a QR code to scan, taking the user to the project resources for consumers on the Blue Sky Community Services website.
The Inclusion Boards showcase the following resources:
Hospital Care Resources: The Inclusive Hospital Care Resource and the My Health Journey Hospital Passport assist patients with disability and health staff to work together collaboratively, and provide a template for people with disability to share important information about themselves.
Sensory Kits: 14 sensory kits have been donated to wards across MNCLHD, and sensory awareness training delivered to the ward staff. Further kits will be donated for use in hospital waiting rooms across the Mid North Coast. Sensory kits assist patients with diverse sensory needs.
Hospital Handbook: The Hospital Handbook provides information about the hospital journey in a single, convenient resource. A ‘standard’ version and an ‘easy English’ version are available.
Easy Read Resources: Hospital and health information for people who require an easy-read format.
Community Support Guide: A two-page resource that may assist patients, outlining health and community supports and services, and including details on how to contact them.
Inclusion boards will be installed soon at all our health facilities across the MNC, so keep an eye out!
