The weather’s cold which makes it the perfect time to cook up a hearty winter meal.

The problem is, what to cook? Well, residents of Dorrigo Multi-Purpose Service (DMPS) better known as Highview, have you covered thanks to their very own cookbook which is full to the brim of delicious recipes.

Titled, Highview for the Love of Cooking, this special fundraising recipe book was created by residents, their families, and DMPS staff, with copies printed for distribution in 2021.

Proceeds from every book sale goes towards funding weekly activities for residents to make their lives full and happy.

Diversional Therapist, Christine Martin, said one of the weekly activities at DMPS involves residents and staff cooking a variety of recipes using donated produce.

“We make lots of things such as jars of choko pickles, relishes, marmalade and lemon butter, rhubarb and custard and scones,” she said.

“The items we cook are then up for sale for anyone to purchase as part of our fundraising.”

Currently, there are only 12 copies left of the Highview cookbooks to purchase. Anyone wanting to purchase a book or jars of pickles etc can do so by placing an order through Dorrigo Multi Purpose Service by phoning 6692 7700. Copies cost $20 each.

DMPS staff can also arrange to deliver the books or jars of food to other hospitals close by.
